England set up Wales clash

England won two of their three pool matches to set up a quarter-final showdown with in-form Wales at the HSBC Sevens World Series in Dubai.

England, who took third place in the series-opening event in Australia last month, claimed convincing wins over Canada (47-7) and the United States (28-5) before slumping to a 26-21 defeat at the hands of former coach Ben Ryan's Fiji in their final Pool C match.

That loss was not enough to deny England a place in the last eight though, where they will meet a Wales side who progressed through with a 100 per cent record after beating Spain 38-0, Scotland 31-19 and Australia 19-14.

Scotland are also through thanks to wins over the Australians (21-17) and Spanish (21-14), and they will now face Fiji. In the other two quarter-finals, reigning world champions New Zealand - winners in Australia - play Argentina and South Africa face Kenya.
