England sweat on Wilkinson fitness

Jonny Wilkinson was taken for a scan on his right forearm on Saturday after England sealed their place in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals with a 16-12 victory over Scotland.

Wilkinson appeared to be in immediate pain after suffering a blow to the arm in a tackle and he was replaced five minutes from time.

The England management have said there will be no medical updates until Sunday.

England will also be sweating over a potential citing for wing Delon Armitage, who caught Chris Paterson with a high tackle.

Wilkinson is the second high-profile fly-half to suffer an injury scare after New Zealand's Dan Carter pulled out of the All Blacks' game against Canada earlier in the day with a groin injury.

There are fears in New Zealand that Carter could miss the rest of the tournament - and England will be praying that fate does not befall Wilkinson.
