Eves signs for Northampton

Northampton have announced the signing of centre Luke Eves on a short-term deal.

Former Newcastle player Eves, 26, will move to Franklin's Gardens from Championship club Bristol, where he has just completed a second spell with his home-town club.

" With a number of players away with their countries for the World Cup, we felt we needed some more depth in the squad," Northampton rugby director Jim Mallinder said.

""Luke is a good player who has plenty of experience in the Aviva Premiership and in the Championship, and we believe he has the quality to be able to contribute as our season gets under way."
