Exiles swoop for Noakes

London Irish have signed fly-half Chris Noakes from Super Rugby franchise Auckland Blues on a two-year contract.

Noakes, 28, has also represented the Highlanders and is eligible to play for England. He will compete with Shane Geraghty and Ian Humphreys for the fly-half duties at the Madejski Stadium.

"Chris is a very accomplished fly half," Irish director of rugby Brian Smith said.

"He's a prolific goal kicker with a 75 per cent average in the Super XV and he knows how to get a backline moving. We feel he's very well suited to the European game."
