Fearns heading to Lyon

Bath have confirmed that back-row forward Carl Fearns is to join French club Lyon.

Fearns, 26, has made more than 70 appearances for Bath since joining them four years ago from Sale Sharks.

"We are obviously disappointed to let Carl go, but he feels the time is right to make a change, and we respect that," Bath head coach Mike Ford said.

"He's a talented and committed player, and I am sure he will be a great success in France."

Bath, meanwhile, have been strongly linked to strengthening their back-row resources for next term by recruiting Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau.

No announcement has been made by last season's beaten Aviva Premiership finalists regarding Faletau, but it is thought that a deal could be close.
