Leicester and England Under-20 fly-half George Ford has been nominated for the International Rugby Board's junior player-of-the-year award.

Ford, 18, was the youngest player at the recent Junior World Championships in Italy and played a key role in England's run to the final.

Tournament winners New Zealand provide the other two shortlisted candidates in captain Luke Whitelock and loose-forward Sam Cane.

The winner will be announced at the IRB Awards in Auckland on October 24.
