Genia leaves Reds for Force

Queensland Reds captain Will Genia has agreed to join fellow Super 15 side Western Force in 2013.

The 24-year-old scored the match-winning try in Queensland's 2011 Super Rugby final win at Suncorp Stadium.

The scrum-half will join the Western Australian franchise at the end of the season, though, ending a six-year association with the Reds.

And Queensland Rugby chief executive Jim Carmichael thanked Genia for his contribution to the club once the news broke.

"I believe Queensland Rugby made the best offer we could to retain Will's services in Queensland, however the opportunity presented to head West was ultimately more appealing to Will," Carmichael said.

"We wish Will all the best next year at the Force and thank him for all he has given to the Reds and Queensland Rugby during throughout the last six seasons."

Current Western Force coach Richard Graham will leave the club at the end of the 2012 season to become the new Queensland coach.
