Harlequins back row forward M athew Luamanu has been banned for three weeks after being sent off against Sale Sharks.

Luamanu was dismissed in Harlequins' 19-10 Aviva Premiership defeat on Friday for dangerously charging Sharks skipper Josh Beaumont.

The 27-year-old New Zealander pleaded guilty before a Rugby Football Union panel and has been banned until October 3.

Luamanu will miss Aviva Premiership games against Exeter Chiefs, Saracens and Wasps.

RFU disciplinary panel chairman Jerry Summers said: "The panel found that this was a reckless act by the player.

"However it was a forceful collision resulting in a concussion being sustained by Josh Beaumont which was taken in to account when finding this a mid-range offence.

"The player was thereafter given full mitigation reducing this to a three-week ban."
