Hassler set for lengthy lay-off

Ospreys' Canada international wing Jeff Hassler faces up to five months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.

Hassler, 23, was hurt during the closing stages of Canada's 18-9 defeat against Romania in Bucharest a fortnight ago and the Ospreys have now confirmed he will undergo surgery this week.

"Jeff sustained medial knee ligament damage, and following consultation it was clear that the best course of treatment is surgery," Ospreys' medical performance manager Chris Towers said.

"He is being operated on this week and will be looking at a rehab period of up to five months."
