Championship newcomers Jersey have announced the signing of England Saxons wing Richard Haughton.

The 31-year-old spent most of his career with Saracens before embarking on a two-season stint with their Aviva Premiership rivals Wasps.

"Richard has played rugby at a high level, and he impressed me with his enthusiasm for joining Jersey for an exciting first season of Championship rugby," Jersey rugby director Ben Harvey said.

"Although he has connections here through his wife's family, this was first and foremost a rugby decision for Richard, enabling him to take the next step in his career."

Haughton has also played in more than 30 International Rugby Board sevens tournaments for England, scoring 106 tries, and was a 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medallist.
