Henson hoping for Toulon debut
Gavin Henson is hoping to make his long-awaited Toulon debut at the weekend after recovering from a calf injury.
The Wales centre has not played for his new club since joining from Saracens in early February, but is back in training and could be in contention for the club's Top 14 trip to third-placed Castres on Friday night.
"I feel really good," he told www.varmatin.com. "I was injured when I arrived and the recovery has taken far longer than expected. It has been a nightmare. But I have finally got to train with my new team-mates and now I really want to play."
He added: "I hope over the next few days I can build up my training and be a part of the squad for Friday.
"I feel good mentally and settled in the team, even though it is never easy joining a new club during the season."
Toulon boss Philippe Saint-Andre was encouraged by Henson's progress, saying: "He trained for 40 minutes, 25 of which was with the squad.
"He communicated well with the rest of the players when we worked on defensive organisation, including the kicking game.
"He knows the patterns of play and we will know a bit more in future sessions."
