Hodgson to miss start of season
England international Charlie Hodgson is expected to miss the first month of the new season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The Sale Sharks fly-half has started his rehabilitation, with his club saying the operation was "a complete success".
Hodgson, who performed solidly for England during their summer tour to Australia and New Zealand, went under the knife on specialist's advice after his shoulder had been troubling him for a while.
Sale, under the guidance of new head coach Mike Brewer, begin their Aviva Premiership campaign at home to Newcastle on September 3.
They also face league fixtures in September against Saracens, last season's beaten Premiership finalists, Harlequins and Bath.
