Hooker Heguy handed 20-week ban

Latest rugby union news

Biarritz hooker Arnaud Heguy has been banned for 20 weeks after he was found guilty of threatening behaviour towards a referee, the French Top 14 governing body has confirmed.

Heguy was suspended by Ligue Nationale de Rugby until February following Biarritz's 24-13 loss to Toulon in August in which he was judged, according to a statement from the LNR, to have shown "threatening action against a match official".

Biarritz forwards coach Laurent Rodriguez has also been given a 12-week ban for "threatening language" to an official while club president Serge Blanco has been banned from pitchside and the changing rooms for four weeks for "misconduct".

Biarritz announced on their website "the club will make no comment" but they are reserving the right to appeal.
