Bulls utility back Francois Hougaard has been ruled out for at least another week as he continues his recovery from a stress fracture.
The rising South Africa star, who featured heavily for the Springboks last season, is yet to play in the new Super 15 campaign. He returned to training hopeful of a place in the team to face the Highlanders in Pretoria on Saturday, but has been told to wait a little longer.
"I am disappointed, but it is better to take the conservative route," he said. "We have a bye next week, which means that I will be able to concentrate on making my comeback against the Stormers in two weeks' time."
He added: "That is something to look forward to."
The defending champions have also confirmed hooker Gary Botha will only be available again in two weeks after he injured his collarbone against the Lions in round one.
Bakkies Botha is also a doubt for their first home match of the season due to bruising on his foot. A decision over his availability will be made later in the week.
