Ulster made the perfect start to their Heineken Cup campaign with a battling 16-11 win over Clermont-Auvergne in a pulsating Pool Four encounter at Ravenhill.
After trailing 11-6 at half-time, Ulster fought back to leave the star-studded visitors with a losing bonus point after they had set all the early pace.
Ulster out-half Ian Humphreys scored all of his side's points, with his second-half try putting his side in front for the first time in the match, which he then converted to add to his earlier three penalties.
Noa Seru Nakaitaci touched down for Clermont, with David Skrela kicking two penalties.
