Stephen Ferris, Ulster, has his eye allegedly gouged by Julien Dupuy and David Attoub, Stade Francais

Stade Francais duo Julien Dupuy and David Attoub will be in the eye of the storm today after Ulster’s victory over the Parisians which took them joint top of Heineken Cup Group Four.

The pair are likely to be investigated by the citing commissioner following alleged gouging incidents late in the second half.

Ireland international Stephen Ferris epitomised the attitude of the men in white with some raucous tackling and driving and in the end Stade had to resort to some despicable tactics to impair the big flanker.

Scrum-half Dupuy was the initial culprit, but photographs showing replacement prop Attoub is likely to face the allegations.

“I was furious,” said Ferris, who had his headgear ripped off during the incident.

“When I was on the ground I felt numerous fingers in my eye. I will just let the citing commissioner sort it out.

“There was no apology afterwards.

“All Dupuy said to me on the pitch was 'I did not do anything, nothing happened' and I just walked off.”

Best has once again shown worth to Irish

It must have been the easiest selection decision of his legendary coaching career, as Declan Kidney prepares for Ireland’s final game against Scotland and a crack at another Triple Crown.
