Italy's Masi charged over challenge against Ireland

Published 18/02/2009

Andrea Masi has been cited for the dangerous tackle that saw him sin-binned inside the opening minute of Italy’s RBS 6 Nations defeat to Ireland.

Full-back Masi was yellow carded for a neck-high challenge on opposite number Rob Kearney during Sunday’s 38-9 loss in Rome.

Ireland’s players reacted furiously to the tackle and there was a brief shoving match before order was restored.

Masi is scheduled to have his case heard by an independent Six Nations three-man disciplinary committee in London today.
