Itoje handed new Saracens deal

Saracens have announced what they describe as "a long-term deal" for their exciting second-row prospect Maro Itoje.

The 20-year-old forward has already captained England to Junior World Cup success during his career, and he skippered Saracens when they won this season's LV= Cup.

The England Saxons lock has made more than 20 Saracens appearances and become an important member of rugby director Mark McCall's squad.

McCall said: " Maro's progress over the last two seasons has been outstanding.

"He has captained Saracens to the A League and LV=Cup titles with great maturity, and he has an incredible desire and hunger to get better as a player.

"What is even more impressive is he has managed to combine his progression as a rugby player alongside his studies, in which he is also excelling.

"He's an incredibly ambitious young man, and we are delighted to announce he will be extending his stay with Saracens."
