Jacobsen targets league improvement
Scotland prop Allan Jacobsen's primary focus is climbing the Magners League with Edinburgh, rather than the forthcoming RBS 6 Nations Championship.
The 32-year-old, who won his 50th Scotland cap in last November's third autumn Test with Samoa, is set to start in Sunday's Greaves Sports 1872 Cup clash with Glasgow Warriors at Murrayfield.
"My main focus and the boys' main focus just now is about getting back up this league a bit," he said. "We've had the Heineken games and we've got these two back-to-back games. At the end of the day it's all about points and if we want to have a chance of getting into the play-offs, we need to start climbing the table now."
Edinburgh have won five of their last six games at Murrayfield, including the December 20 Heineken Cup defeat of Castres, but have lost all of their last four fixtures with the Warriors.
While reclaiming the bragging rights are important to Jacobsen, he knows Glasgow will be determined to extend their dominance over Edinburgh in the capital following a 30-18 win at Firhill last Monday.
Jacobsen added: "We're at home and that does give us confidence, but we know they're a good team and they will love nothing more than coming here and beating us through here.
"It's going to be as tough a match probably, if not tougher - the second game usually is.
"We'll need to lift it up another gear if we want to win."
