Cory Jane scored a hat-trick as the Hurricanes proved too strong for the Reds on Saturday.
The New Zealand winger crossed three times as his side recorded a 35-21 victory.
Queensland's defence were unable to do anything to stop Jane and his team-mates cutting them open, with five tries conceded.
They actually opened the scoring themselves, with Quade Cooper drawing a defender off a line-out and passing to Ben Lucas who crossed.
Jane replied, though, going in after Andre Taylor had made some space.
A Cooper penalty then put the Reds ahead again, before Jane bagged his second with 23 minutes on the clock.
Beauden Barrett missed both conversions, however and, as a result of Cooper nailing two penalties, the Reds led 14-10 at half-time.
The second half started with Barrett missing another penalty, but he was soon on the money with a conversion after a TJ Perenara try.
Jane then went in for his hat-trick and Barrett kept the scoreboard ticking over with another penalty.
The Reds roared back with a James Hanson try, but Ardie Savea put the game to bed with a fifth home score and Barrett wrapped things up with a conversion and a penalty.
