Jones: We can match Toulouse
Winger Lee Jones believes Edinburgh can match Toulouse if they ensure a high tempo against the four-time European champions on Saturday.
Edinburgh host the French side in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals after winning five out of six group games.
"Everyone knows it's not just going to be the standard league game we play week in, week out. Toulouse are a quality side with world-class players," said Jones, 23. "Everyone knows it's going to be a step up and we are trying to prepare for that as best we can. If we can play our own game and play with tempo, then I think we can be a match for anybody."
He added: "If our set-piece goes well, we can win ball and play with tempo.
"When we have played well, we have played with tempo and controlled the pace of the game. That's when we're at our best."
Jones, whose try against London Irish at Murrayfield ensured home advantage for the last eight, has sensed a growing confidence around the team on the European stage throughout the campaign.
Edinburgh have won only five RaboDirect Pro12 matches this season and sit second bottom, but they have consistently raised their game in the Heineken Cup.
"Winning that first game gave us a lot of confidence," said Jones, who made his Scotland debut against England in this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship.
"We won it narrowly down at London Irish but winning it gave us confidence to go on and play for 80 minutes in the next couple of games and we managed to win them as well.
"I think it has just built game on game. We knew we had something to play for in the last few games in the Heineken Cup, and building on that has been key."
