Kelly to join Knights

Former Wales boss and Super League coach of the year Neil Kelly is to make a second switch of codes after agreeing to join the backroom staff of Championship club Doncaster Knights.

Kelly, a former player with Dewsbury and Wakefield, coached Widnes and Dewsbury before joining Magners League side Ulster as defence coach and returned to the 13-man game as director of rugby at Leigh two years ago.

He was Super League coach of the year in 2002 after guiding Widnes to promotion and was coach of Wales at the 2000 World Cup.

"I look forward to bringing what I have to the table and taking part in the RFU Championship," said Kelly, who will work with Doncaster's director of rugby Lynn Howells.
