Kings crushed by Sharks on Super Rugby return

The Kings did not enjoy their return to Super Rugby as they were routed 43-8 at home by the Sharks on Saturday.

The Kings, playing their first game in the competition since 2013 thanks to this season's expansion, actually took the lead as Chris Cloete opened the scoring with an eighth-minute try.

But it was virtually one-way traffic from there on as Odwa Ndungane (two), Jean-Luc du Preez, Willie Le Roux, Paul Jordaan, and Lwazi Mvovo all crossed for the Sharks. Joe Pietersen kicked a penalty and converted five of the tries.

Elgar Watts got the Kings' only other points of the evening with a 27th-minute penalty.
