Lions open up with bonus-point victory as battling Sunwolves suffer debut loss

The Sunwolves made a battling if ultimately unsuccessful Super Rugby debut on Saturday as they were beaten 26-13 by the Lions in the tournament's first-ever game in Tokyo.

Japan's Sunwolves are one of the new teams taking part in this year's expanded competition and they were far from overrun, although they were outscored four tries to one as the Lions claimed a bonus-point triumph.

Robbie Coetzee, Courtnall Skosan, Jaco Kriel and Lionel Mapoe all crossed for the South African side, with Elton Jantjies contributing the rest of their points with three conversions. Shota Horie went over for the hosts' only try and Samoa international Tusi Pisi added eight points from two penalties and a conversion.
