Ulster's Lions home for Henderson's big day
Two of Ulster's British and Irish Lions players returned from New Zealand last night as one prepares for another significant moment in his life.
Iain Henderson and Rory Best landed at George Best Belfast City Airport a day earlier than the rest of the squad, as Henderson prepares for his wedding on Friday.
The 25-year-old is marrying Suzanne Flanagan - who was at the airport to meet him along with Best's wife Jodie - in front of friends, family and rugby team-mates, and was granted permission to return early to prepare.
"Hopefully, as far as I'm aware, everything's been organised!" Henderson laughs. "I'm sure I'll get an earful in the car on the way home of the run down of everything that's gone on over the past couple of weeks that I managed to slip away from.
"I don't know if that's fortunate or unfortunate but it's been a weight off my shoulders Suzanne doing everything."
Although the pair didn't feature in any of the three Tests against the All Blacks as the Lions drew a series for the first time, both said it was a great experience to be a part of.
"It's been a really enjoyable tour, but it's been a very long time," Best admitted. "It seems a long time ago we met up in the Vale of Glamorgan (for their first training camp), so it's good to be home."
Second row Henderson agreed, adding: "The experiences you take away from such a lengthy tour and the quality of opposition are second to none.
"It's been thoroughly enjoyable but we're both glad to be home and looking forward to a couple of weeks off now."
