McCalman inks new deal

Australia forward Ben McCalman has emerged from a year to forget to win a new contract ahead of the Wallabies' big international season.

The versatile Western Force product has inked a new deal that will take him through to the end of the 2015 season, joining fellow forwards Stephen Moore and Ben Alexander in re-signing and pledging his future to the green and gold.

McCalman, who can cover a variety of positions in the pack, is making his way back from a shoulder problem and broken arm that kept him sidelined for much of 2012. "It wasn't easy missing out last year but the break has given me a decent rest and added to the hunger to get back," McCalman said.

"I've had a good off-season, have enjoyed getting back into my work with the Force and can't wait to get started again.

"There's a lot to look forward to this year with a new coaching team and a lot of new faces at the Force, the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of playing against the British & Irish Lions and then the Rugby Championship and spring tour after that."

The 24-year-old has set himself the long-term goal of playing in his second World Cup in England in 2015.
