McKie leaves Sale

Chairman Gordon McKie has left Sale Sharks, the Aviva Premiership club has confirmed.

Former Scottish Rugby chief executive joined the North West club in January, but has now left after just five months at the club.

"Gordon has made a significant and invaluable contribution to Sale Sharks in a relatively short period of time, and we thank him for his efforts," said Sale Sharks co-owner Ian Blackhurst.

"We appreciate the time and commitment that he has given alongside his other business interests.

"The club has just concluded a successful season and we are well positioned to look forward to next season and beyond with confidence.''

Sale finished sixth in the Premiership in a much-improved campaign, qualifying for next season's European Rugby Champions Cup.

The Sharks' strong season helped Danny Cipriani win selection to the England ranks for the first time in six years, for the summer tour of New Zealand.
