McLean signs up for Sale

Sale have announced the signing of Italy international full-back Luke McLean.

The 26-year-old, who will join the Aviva Premiership club from Treviso, produced some outstanding displays during this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship.

He has won 56 caps for the Azzurri and becomes Sale's latest new recruit, following the likes of his Test team colleague Alberto De Marchi, Nathan Hines and Chris Cusiter.

Born in Australia to Italian parents, McLean spent two years with Calvisano before joining Treviso in 2009.

"Luke is an exceptional international full-back," Sale rugby director Steve Diamond told the club's official website.

"He is a genuine 15 and great under the high ball.

"Luke will bring a lot of experience with him and will complement and help push our standards.

"With qualifying for the new European competition, we have now brought in four Internationals to replace the lads who are leaving. Luke is also a very competent goalkicker."
