Newcastle have announced the signing of Italy international wing Giovanbattista Venditti.

Venditti has agreed a two-year deal and he will move to the Aviva Premiership club from Guinness PRO12 outfit Zebre after the World Cup later this year.

Venditti, 25, has won 27 Test caps. He started all of Italy's RBS 6 Nations games this season, scoring tries against Scotland and Wales.

Newcastle rugby director Dean Richards said: "' Giamba' is a strong player with quick feet and good hands who likes to attack the space.

"He is also strong in contact and is going to give us plenty of options next season, with his ability to play both centre and wing.

"He will arrive with us after Italy conclude the World Cup campaign, and we are all looking forward to working with him once he arrives."
