No ban for Williams

Wales international Liam Williams has avoided suspension after being sent off during the Scarlets' Guinness PRO12 opener against Ulster last weekend.

Williams, 23, was dismissed on receipt of a second yellow card after he obstructed an Ulster player, having earlier been sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on.

League organisers announced that a three-man disciplinary committee viewed footage of the incidents on Thursday and considered match officials' reports and written submissions from the player.

"T he disciplinary committee found that the referee had not been wrong to issue the red card, but decided not to impose a playing suspension on Williams," read a Guinness PRO12 statement.

"L iam Williams is therefore free to resume playing rugby immediately."
