NZ duo back from injury

Richie McCaw and Dan Carter return from injury for New Zealand's critical World Cup Pool A clash with France at Eden Park.

McCaw will become the first All Black to win 100 caps after missing last Friday's 83-7 victory over Japan with a calf problem as one of four changes.

Carter has overcome his back problem to start at fly-half while Israel Dagg has been selected ahead of Mils Muliaina at full-back.

There is no place in the 22 for Jimmy Cowan with Piri Weepu preferred at scrum-half and Andy Ellis offering cover from the bench.

Adam Thomson switches back to number 8 to accommodate McCaw with Victor Vito dropping out of the squad.

The New Zealand line-up contains 727 caps with three of the XV - Tony Woodcock, McCaw and Carter - also starting the 2007 quarter-final defeat by France.

New Zealand team: I Dagg; C Jane, C Smith, M Nonu, R Kahui; D Carter, P Weepu; T Woodcock, K Mealamu, O Franks, B Thorn, S Whitelock, J Kaino, R McCaw (capt), A Thomson.

Replacements: A Hore, B Franks, A Williams, A Boric, A Ellis, C Slade, S B Williams.
