South Africa winger JP Pietersen has become the latest player to withdraw for their end-of-year tour of Britain and Ireland due to a hamstring injury.
Sharks star Pietersen suffered the injury in their Currie Cup semi-final win over the Blue Bulls and, after being assessed, he has been withdrawn from the preliminary training squad that is set to meet in Johannesburg on Friday.
The Springboks have not called up a replacement for the squad, which only includes domestic-based players.
Pietersen joins captain John Smit, prop Gurthro Steenkamp, centres Jaque Fourie and Wynand Olivier and hooker Gary Botha in pulling out while scrum-half Fourie du Preez, lock Andries Bekker and flanker Heinrich Brussow were not considered due to long-standing injuries.
Peter De Villiers' side face Ireland, Wales. Scotland and England on their Grand Slam tour, before completing the trip with the traditional finale against the Barbarians at Twickenham.
