Pilgrim extends Falcons stay

Scrum-half Chris Pilgrim has signed a contract extension with newly-promoted Newcastle Falcons.

Pilgrim joined the club from Nottingham in 2009, but saw last season wrecked by an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 27-year-old is looking forward to getting back on track in the Aviva Premiership with the Falcons, who have chosen not to disclose the length of his new deal.

He said: "I am delighted to be staying with the club and being a northern lad it means a lot to me to represent Newcastle Falcons.

"After a tough year personally, I am excited at the prospect of competing for the number nine jersey again."
