Prydie, Smith get new Dragons deals

Newport Gwent Dragons have announced three-year contract extensions for wing Tom Prydie and centre Ashley Smith.

Prydie, 22, won the first of his five Wales caps as an 18-year-old. He joined the Dragons following three seasons with the Ospreys and a short loan spell at Aviva Premiership club Wasps.

Newport-born Smith, 27, is a Dragons academy product and has made almost 150 first team appearances at Rodney Parade.

"I am delighted that both Ashley and Tom are extending their contracts with us for another three seasons," Dragons rugby director Lyn Jones said.

"Ashley is an integral part of the squad here at Rodney Parade and has proved to be a strong and natural leader, both on and off the pitch.

"Tom has shown great promise throughout his time with the region, and I am looking forward to working with him over the coming seasons. He delivers and responds to everything the coaches and I throw at him."
