Puafisi signs for Gloucester

Gloucester have announced the signing of Tonga international prop Sila Puafisi.

The 25-year-old, who started for Tonga in their 17-7 defeat against Wales last Friday, will move to Kingsholm after a spell with recent ITM Cup winners Tasman in New Zealand.

Puafisi will start his Gloucester career shortly, subject to visa approval, linking up with fellow Tongans Sione Kalamafoni and Lua Lokotui at the west country club.

"We identified Sila as a possible addition to the squad and I am very pleased that we have been able to bring him in," Gloucester rugby director Nigel Davies said.

"It's taken quite a lot of work. The work behind the scenes in these cases can often be quite lengthy.

"But he has been in fine form in the ITM Cup and for Tonga, and I am confident that we have added a quality player to the squad."
