Queen’s are comeback kings

Queen's fought back from 25-0 down to defeat Belfast Harlequins 33-28 in the First Trust Senior Cup at Upper Malone and join Dungannon, Malone and Instonians in the semi-finals.

Quins took a 15-0 interval advantage when Keith Pyper kicked a penalty and converted one try.

They continued after the restart when two further tries, but once the students started started the fight- back there was no stopping them. David McIlwaine converted a Johnny Shiels score to level before Paul Karayiannis clinched the tie.

Rainey suffered from a slow start and never recovered against their more senior opposition as Malone won 49-10 at Hatrick Park.

Instonians defeated Ards 42-17 and Dungannon saw off Banbridge 41-22.

Meanwhile Campbell College will face Wallace in the Medallion Shield final on March 22.

Wallace held on to defeat RBAI 10-8 after the Belfast team had needed a last kick of the tie conversion to force a replay.

Rob Haldane scored all eighteen points in Campbell 18-16 victory over Methodist College.
