Magners League: Ulster wary of fired-up Dragons

By Ciaran Donaghy

Coach Brian McLaughlin has warned Ulster not to under estimate the Dragons ahead of Friday night's rearranged Mangers League clash at Ravenhill.

The Welsh region have a quick turnaround after defeat to Gloucester in the LV Cup semi- final but McLaughlin believes the 45-17 score line didn't do the Dragons justice.

“We have a good insight into the Dragons having watched them play Gloucester at the weekend. If you watched that game Gloucester were certainly ruthless,” said McLaughlin.

“This is a typical Dragons side, they want to play good rugby but they are awkward about the pitch.

“They are big, they are strong and they have options in their back row and in the backs so a lot will depend on who they pick.

“They have to come and have a go and we have got to make sure we are ready for that. We are under no illusions and we know how tough they are to play against.”

A win will propel Ulster into the top four and with a big month coming up, McLaughlin knows his side can't afford to drop points, |especially at home .

“We now how tough it is going to be but all season we have named it as being one of our goals, this is where we want to be and to do that we have to keep winning,” he added.

McLaughlin is not expecting to get any of his quartet of Irish internationals.

Tom Court, Rory Best, Paddy Wallace and Andrew Trimble are all with the Irish squad in Dublin.

Lock Dan Touhy is in the Ravens side for this afternoon's clash with Munster A as he continues his rehabilitation from injury.

Out-half Paddy Jackson, centre Luke Marshall and winger Craig Gilroy have been held back for the Irish U20 squad while Ian Humphreys, although back in training, misses out due to a |troublesome hamstring.
