Redpath calls for reaction

Gloucester boss Bryan Redpath has demanded a reaction from his players following their "embarrassing" performance against Aviva Premiership play-off rivals Harlequins.

Gloucester are back on league business on Saturday when they host lowly Newcastle just seven days after being humiliated 53-15 by Quins.

Redpath, whose side overcame Newcastle 34-7 in last month's LV= Cup final, said: "We are concentrating on Newcastle - that is all I am interested in. I am not interested in six games to go, top-four finishes, play-off semi-finals or LV= Cup wins."

He added: "When you have a performance like last weekend, it's a great eye-opener just to see how easily you can be up there one minute and down there the next.

"Last weekend was embarrassing, and we haven't hidden from that. There has to be some form of reaction to that result - we were poor.

"We've watched a lot of video and asked a lot of questions this week and, ultimately, the proof will be in the pudding on Saturday."

Gloucester are only the club with an unbeaten Premiership home record this term, while Newcastle have collected just five league points on the road, winning at Leeds and picking up a losing bonus point against Exeter.
