Reece Hodge in inspiring form as Rebels feel the Force

The Rebels opened the new Super Rugby season with victory as the Western Force suffered that familiar losing feeling in a 25-19 home defeat.

Reece Hodge scored two tries, either side of Adam Thomson's, as the Rebels proved too strong for the team that finished rock bottom of the table last season.

Hodge kicked the Rebels into an early lead before two Jonno Lance penalties put Force 6-3 up. After Hodge's 30th-minute try, which he converted himself, the Force hit straight back as Lance crossed and kicked the conversion.

However, Thomson had the final say before half-time - with Hodge again converting - and, although Lance kicked two more penalties in the second half, Hodge's second try ensured victory for the visitors.
