Rieko Ioane's second-half try helped the Blues fight back to secure a 23-18 victory over the Sharks in their Super Rugby clash at Eden Park.

The game began with a minute's silence to remember former Blues lock Kurtis Haiu who died in midweek at the age of 31 after a battle with cancer, but the Sharks raced into a 11-3 lead thanks to Tendai Mtawarira's try and the kicking of Joe Pietersen, who finished with eight points.

Sharks centre Paul Jordaan extended that lead to 18-10, after George Moala had briefly reduced the Blues' deficit, but Ioane touched down on 65 minutes and West took his tally to 13 points with the boot to seal the win.
