Saracens ease to win

Tries from Don Barrell and James Short were enough to help Saracens to a 20-6 victory over the United States at Honourable Artillery Company grounds in London.

Sarries named a strong side for the fixture with lock Steve Borthwick skippering the team and Rugby Players' Association player of the year Schalk Brits at hooker.

Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell, son of former dual-code international Andy, and opposite number Valenese Malifa kicked two penalties apiece as the first 40 minutes ended with the score at 6-6. But the Aviva Premiership outfit struck shortly after the restart as a spell of pressure allowed flanker Barrell to crash over, with Farrell adding the extras. The win was sealed with the final play as lively wing Short crossed for Farrell to convert

The USA now move on to face Portugal, Scotland A and Georgia on their remaining tour fixtures.
