Dromore waiting game after last four stalemate

Published 19/03/2014

Sperrin College and Fivemiletown High School will have to do it all again in the quest for a place in the Danske Bank High School Trophy final.

the sides fought out a 7-7 draw yesterday which may cause the final against Dromore High, who had defeated Craigavon SHS 24-0, to be postponed next Tuesday.

These two teams had drawn earlier in the season so in the rainy conditions it was no great surprise that the game was scoreless at the interval.

The deadlock was broken though when Sperrin's Padraig Totten cut through three defenders to score a try converted by Nagene Chada.

However, from the drop out their opponents attacked and following pressure around the line Gary Trotter touched down for Andrew Johnston to add the points.

Jeremy Hastings, the Sperrin coach commented: "They had a couple of formidable players and we lost Calum Smith through injury at half-time.

"Our captain Luke Hillman was strong at No 8 but Bryn Jones in the centre was a class act."
