Limavady, after taking a slim 10-8 interval lead, gained the better of the second half exchanges to emerge comfortable victors.
It was an entertaining game with Limavady scoring four tries although, on the balance of play, there should have been more.
No.8 Johnny King burst through a number of tackles to go in at the corner and put his team ahead after 20 minutes. Stuart Thompson converted from the touch-line.
Friends' retorted with an excellent Daniel McGuigan try and then proceeded to go in front when Rory McIvor, with his second attempt, kicked a penalty. The visitors were 10-8 ahead at the half way stage with a Thompson penalty.
Limavady took charge in the second half and increased their lead after 10 minutes. A handling move which included good work by Matthew Haslett and Johnny O'Hara after a mix-up in the home defence resulted in an overlap for Shane Toner to add an unconverted try.
At this stage Limavady were monopolising the possession but credit must be given to the home side who gave their all in defence. The third try followed when further inter-passing between both forwards and backs led to Andrew Given scoring for Thompson to goal.
Good work by scrum-half Peter Wilson allowed the visitors to take play from inside their own ‘22' right down to well inside the Friends' territory. From there they kept possession for Ulster Schools' prop Rogan Bell to add an unconverted try.
Alan McGonigle, the Friends' head of coaching, said: “ That was an excellent game of schoolboy rugby - Limavady took their chances in the second half and deserved their victory.”
Stephen Barr, the Limavady coach, added: “It was hard work against the strong wind and this gave us confidence. Peter Wilson and Stuart Thompson kept control throughout.”
