RBAI's James Hume accumulated 12 points to help his team qualify for the quarter-finals of the Danske Bank Schools' Medallion Shield as they beat Regent House 32-0.

They outplayed their opponents in the first half and effectively had the game won when they took a 22-0 lead into the interval and Regent were unable to reduce the deficit.

Hume scored a try and kicked two conversions and a penalty. Andrew Knape, Yasser Omar, Callum Reid and Matthew Cuthbertson were the other try scorers.

Inst Director of Rugby Daniel Soper was pleased with the first half effort, as he said: "We lost our way a bit after the restart and had to defend for longer than I would have wanted."

Medallion Shield results: Wallace High 24 Banbridge Academy 0; Omagh Academy 0 Down High 17; Ballymena Academy 6 Belfast Royal Academy 3; Regent House 0 RBAI 32.
