RBAI Director of Rugby Daniel Soper steered his teams to the schools' rugby 'double' last season and is hoping for a repeat after the Firsts and the Medallion reached the semi-finals of their respective competitions.

The Firsts face Ballymena Academy in the Danske Bank Schools' Cup at the Kingspan on Monday while the Medallion have a difficult encounter against Methodist College in the Shield at Roughfort.

"The Medallion have also been successful under the coaching of Gavin Monteith and have recorded hard fought wins over Southern opposition, but narrowly lost to Methody twice," stated Soper.

"Both of those were very closely contested so we anticipate another hard battle."

In the previous rounds Inst easily eliminated Friends' and Ballyclare High while their opponents squeezed past Portadown College and Royal School Armagh 19-10.

BRA meet Wallace High School in the other semi at Osborne Park.
