Scott Wight pens short-term deal with Glasgow Warriors

Scotland Sevens player Scott Wight has joined Glasgow on a short-term basis.

The stand-off has travelled with Glasgow to face Canada in a pre-season friendly in Nova Scotia and will be available to Gregor Townsend for the start of the Guinness Pro12 campaign amid the absence of the injured Gregor Hunter.

Josh Strauss has also joined up with the Warriors squad despite remaining part of the players under consideration for Scotland head coach Vern Cotter's final World Cup squad.

A club statement read: "Strauss has been released with a view to getting game time before being considered for the final 31-man Scotland Rugby World Cup squad and will be available to the Warriors on Saturday and the following weekend when they play the Scarlets in the opening round of the Guinness Pro12."

Rory Hughes, Mike Cusack and Kevin Bryce have joined up with Glasgow after being released from Cotter's pool on Monday.
