Flanker Sean McMahon scored two tries as the Rebels repelled a strong second-half comeback from the Reds to claim a 31-28 Super Rugby victory in Brisbane.

McMahon pounced twice during six first-half minutes as the Melbourne side built up a 17-point interval advantage after wing Tom English touched down and Jack Debreczeni kicked nine points.

The Reds claimed four tries of their own - Liam Gill (two), Nick Frisby and Samu Kerevi the scorers - with Frisby adding three conversions and Henry Taefu one, but Nic Stirzaker's 56th-minute touchdown, converted by Debreczeni, made the difference.
