Second injury setback for Varndell

Wasps wing Tom Varndell is facing another lengthy lay-off after suffering a ruptured biceps injury for the second time this season.

Varndell, who was forced to withdraw from the England Saxons squad for Saturday's game against the Ireland Wolfhounds, is to undergo surgery.

Wasps say he is expected to be sidelined for around 12 weeks following the injury suffered during last weekend's Amlin Challenge Cup victory over Italian club Viadana.

Varndell, 28, missed the first three months of this season due to a biceps injury.

Wasps, meanwhile, have confirmed that their Italy international back Andrea Masi is back in full training following injury and will be involved against LV= Cup opponents London Irish on Saturday.
