Payne must bide time for Ireland's call

It seems Jared Payne will need to be patient as he awaits an Ireland recall.

The Ulster centre is making a comeback from three months on the sidelines but it does not look as if he will be handed the 13 jersey for Friday night's vital Six Nations clash with Wales in Cardiff (8.05pm kick-off).

The 31-year-old has two outings for his province under his belt already, including 80 minutes against Treviso last week, but sat out training in County Kildare yesterday.

Forwards coach Simon Easterby said: "He has been a long time out of the game. We're happy with the guys who have been playing.

"For Jared it is great to have him back around and hopefully we will see him train on Wednesday and will take it from there."

Garry Ringrose looks sure to continue at outside centre while Rob Kearney trained fully yesterday after a hip complaint, making it less likely Payne would be pressed into action at full-back.
