Smith set for long lay-off

Ospreys flanker Tom Smith faces a long spell out of rugby after suffering a serious knee injury.

Smith was hurt during the Ospreys' RaboDirect PRO12 victory over Edinburgh last month, and he will now undergo surgery.

"Tom suffered a complex multi-ligament injury to his knee that will ultimately require surgery to repair the damage, which will take place over the next two weeks," Ospreys head physiotherapist Chris Towers said.

"The surgery will then be followed by a lengthy recovery and rehabilitation process."
